Tumor cell growth inhibitory activity and structure-activity relationship of polyoxygenated steroids from the gorgonian Menella kanisa

- Fourteen new polyoxygenated sterols were identified from Menella kanisa.
- The structures were reported for the first time from the title gorgonian.
- The steroids exhibited growth inhibitory activity against A549 and MG-63 cells.
- A preliminary attempt was made for the structure-activity relationship study.
