Novel function of transthyretin in pancreatic alpha cells

► TTR expressed in pancreatic alpha cells showed novel role of interaction with blood glucose levels via control of glucagon. ► Lack of TTR reduces the expression levels of glucagon in pancreatic alpha cells. ► TTR expression may be controlled by specific transcriptional regulation in pancreatic alpha cells, which differs from hepatic cells.
