MicroRNA-101 suppresses SOX9-dependent tumorigenicity and promotes favorable prognosis of human hepatocellular carcinoma

► MiR-101 directly targets SOX9 in HCC tissues. ► Ectopic expression of miR-101 inhibits HCC cell proliferation and tumorigenicity. ► MiR-101 downregulation may be associated with HCC progression and poor prognosis. ► Effects of SOX9 in HCC may be caused by the regulatory function of miR-101.
