Stress fibers stabilize the position of intranuclear DNA through mechanical connection with the nucleus in vascular smooth muscle cells

► We cut actin stress fibers located over the nucleus using laser nanoscissors. ► We investigated the dynamic behavior of stress fibers, nucleus, and intranuclear DNA. ► The nucleus moved after stress fiber dissection and showed marked local deformation. ► The distribution of intranuclear DNA near the dissected stress fibers changed. ► Stress fibers stabilize the position of DNA through connection with the nucleus.
