Identification of linear B-cell epitopes on myotoxin II, a Lys49 phospholipase A2 homologue from Bothrops asper snake venom

► Linear B-cell epitopes of a Lys49 myotoxin were identified. ► A library of overlapping synthetic peptides was used. ► Differences in epitope recognition were observed between antisera. ► Antibodies directed to a neutralizing epitope immunoprecipitate the Lys49 myotoxin. ► Results suggest a “conventional mode” of toxin homodimerization.
