miR-143 inhibits glycolysis and depletes stemness of glioblastoma stem-like cells

► miR-143 expression is significantly down-regulated in glioma tissues and GSLCs. ► miR-143 affects glucose metabolism by targeting HK2 in GSLCs. ► miR-143 promotes differentiation and inhibits self-renew of GSLCs under hypoxia. ► Combination of miR-143 and 2-DG has synergistic effects against GSLCs.
