Mesenchymal stem cells originating from ES cells show high telomerase activity and therapeutic benefits

► We established a novel method for induction of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from mouse ES cells. ► MSCs were sorted by CD105 as a particular cell surface marker through adipogenesis of ES cells. ► MSCs showed high differentiation potential for mesenchymal cell types including skeletal muscles. ► MSCs had notable telomerase activity and low pluripotency with no teratoma formation in vivo.
