Prevalence of specific and phylogenetically closely related genotypes in the population of Candida albicans associated with genital candidiasis in China

► We performed MLST and microsatellite typing of Candida albicans isolates from China. ► Molecular phylogeny and microsatellite locus CAI genotyping exhibit fine correlation. ► Specific and closely related genotypes are concentrated in Chinese vaginitis isolates. ► Chinese and non-Chinese vaginitis isolates differ greatly in genotype distribution patterns.
