Stem cells in tumor angiogenesis

► We reviewed the roles of different stem cell populations in tumor angiogenesis. ► Stem and progenitor cells may contribute to tumor angiogenesis in a paracrine manner. ► A hypothesis on existence of tissue-specific endothelial stem cells is also discussed.
