Docosahexaenoic acid and tetracyclines as promising neuroprotective compounds with poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitory activities for oxidative/genotoxic stress treatment

► The stress evoked by MNNG enhanced the PAR level and decrease mitochondrial AIF level.. ► The Bcl-2 and Bcl-xL down-regulation and the Bax up-regulation were observed.. ► Tetracycline and DHA-protected mitochondria against AIF translocation and death. ► All of these compounds enhanced Bcl-xL gene expression decreased by MNNG.
