Eavesdropping parasitoids do not cause the evolution of less conspicuous signalling behaviour in a field cricket

► We tested the effect of fly parasitism on the evolution of cricket singing behaviour. ► Unexpectedly, male crickets from high-risk populations did not show a reduction in total singing activity. ► Similarly, males did not show a temporal shift in singing activity to avoid parasitoids. ► Other cricket traits may reduce the risk of parasitism risk.
