Molecular cloning and characterization of a cDNA encoding extracellular signal-regulated kinase from Litopenaeus vannamei

► ERK from Litopenaeus vannamei (LVERK) was cloned and recognized as a novel homolog of ERK subfamily. ► LVERK has similar signaling module with mammalian ERK in response to extracellular stimuli. ► The activation of LVERK took place in WSSV infection. ► WSSV may acquire the ability to activate ERK to aid its replication.
