Significant modification of the I−3 Lewis base character in the β-cyclodextrin polyiodide inclusion complex with Co2+ ion: An FT-Raman investigation

► Raman study of the polyiodide electron transport in (β-cyclodextrin)2·Co0.5·I7·21H2O Coexistence of I−7 that do not interact with Co2+ and I−7 that interact with Co2+. ► Total asymmetry of the I−3 Lewis base character due to the influence of Co2+ ions. ► The dielectric study shows very few flip-flop H-bonds implying no H···I contacts.
