Mineralogical composition of the meteorite El Pozo (Mexico): A Raman, infrared and XRD study

► Mineralogical composition of the El Pozo meteorite (Mexico) was examined using Raman, FTIR and XRD. ► Spectroscopic measurements give basic, first order information on the meteorite mineralogy. ► Some metallic phases which did not demonstrate characteristic Raman spectra can be detected by XRD technique. ► Raman mapping analysis is a powerful tool for the study of the heterogeneous meteorite samples.
