Iridium-catalyzed direct ortho-CH amidation of benzoic acids with sulfonylazides

A mild and efficient iridium-catalyzed ortho-CH amidation with sulfonyl azides by weakly coordinating carboxylic acid was demonstrated, which provided a novel approach to anthranilic acid derivatives.

A mild and versatile iridium-catalyzed direct CH amidation of weakly coordinating benzoic acids with sulfonyl azides under external oxidant free conditions has been reported, which generated benzoate sulfonamide compounds with high efficiency and functional-group compatibility and produced molecular nitrogen as the only byproduct.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
