Benzyltributylammonium periodate as a novel and safe oxygen source for Mn-porphyrin catalyzed practical and highly selective oxygenation of hydrocarbons

► Benzyltributylammonium periodate was prepared in high yield in neat water. ► Significant oxidation activity using Mn-pors in H2O/EtOH has been observed. ► The reusability of the catalyst makes this oxidation method appropriate for practical goals.
