Synthesis and cancer cell growth inhibitory activity of icaritin derivatives

Thirty-six icaritin derivatives bearing carboxylic functions have been synthesized. Several derivatives show improved activity against cancer cells, of which 5b and 5d display high selectivity and strong potency to the ER-positive breast cancer cell line MCF-7.
