The corrosion inhibition efficiency of carbon steel pipelines in 1 M HCl by the synthesized novel surfactants was studied using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and weight loss measurements at 20 °C. Temperature effect on the corrosion behaviour was studied at a temperature range from 20 to 80 °C. The results showed that all synthesized inhibitors were good inhibitors and their inhibition efficiencies were significantly increased with increasing both the concentration and temperature. The inhibition efficiency was also influenced by the type of the functional groups substituted on the benzene ring. Polarization curves revealed that the studied inhibitors represent a mixed-type of inhibitors. An equivalent circuit is suggested based on analysis of EIS data. Adsorption of inhibitors was found to obey Langmuir isotherm and was chemisorption.
