Synthesis and luminescence characteristics of Dy3+ ions in silica xerogels doped with Ln2−xDyx(WO4)3

► Synthesis of Ln2−xDyx(WO4)3 (Ln = Gd, La) immobilized in silica xerogel is described. ► The luminescence properties of Dy(III) ions are presented. ► Obtained materials are new and promising yellow phosphors.
