Influence of the surface roughness of silver halide fibers on their transmission in the near infrared

► The surface roughness of silver halide fibers was reduced by KCN treatment. ► The transmission at near-IR was increased due to decrease of surface roughness. ► The fiber normalized transmission due to surface roughness treatment shows σ2/λ2 behavior.
