The fabrication and mechanical properties of bionic laminated ZrB2–SiC/BN ceramic prepared by tape casting and hot pressing

Bionic laminated ZrB2–SiC/BN ceramic was prepared by tape casting and hot pressing, and its mechanical properties and microstructure were investigated in detail. This laminated ZrB2–SiC/BN ceramic has notably higher toughness and thermal shock resistance than ZrB2–SiC ceramics. The results indicate a promising method for improving the fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance of ZrB2-based ceramics.
