Sol-gel synthesis of A-site-ordered and homogeneous (Nd0.55, Li0.35)TiO3 ceramic and its dielectric properties

Perovskite structure (Nd0.55, Li0.35)TiO3 is traditionally synthesized via phase separation into a superlattice of nanodomains comprising (Nd0.5, Li0.5)TiO3 and Nd2/3TiO3 separated by zigzagging boundaries, which possesses a low Q × f value. We successfully synthesized (Nd0.55, Li0.35)TiO3 powders with an average grain size of 2 nm by the sol-gel method. Using ultrafine (Nd0.55, Li0.35)TiO3 powders, A-site-ordered and homogeneous ceramic possessing dramatically improved dielectric properties could be obtained at 1150 °C. Excellent dielectric properties (Q × f = 8250 GHz, εr = 84.3) were achieved.
