Tensile deformation behavior of Nd–Fe–B alloys

The tensile deformation behavior of Nd–Fe–B alloys was examined. A maximum elongation of 84% could be obtained in the alloys under optimum conditions. The tensile deformation of the alloys was found to be based on grain boundary sliding accommodated by an interface-controlled solution–precipitation process along a Nd-rich grain boundary phase. The mechanism for the texture formation in Nd–Fe–B alloys is also discussed based on the obtained results.
