Effects of strain and annealing processes on the distribution of Σ3 boundaries in a Ni-based superalloy

The effects of thermomechanical treatments on the distributions of Σ3 boundaries in Alloy 690(Ni–30Cr–10Fe, wt.%) were investigated. With 5% cold rolling and annealed at 1100 °C for 5 min, almost all the Σ3 boundaries were parts of clusters, but with 50% cold rolling and annealed under the same condition, almost no clusters existed.
