The effect of stress on the microstructural stability of CMSX-10 single crystal Ni-base superalloys

Stress has been shown to increase the amount of topologically close-packed (tcp) phases that form in some Ni-base superalloys. However, in the current study on CMSX-10, stress was shown to decrease the amount of tcp phases that formed after long-term exposures at 1050 °C. The stress did not affect the type, structure or orientation relationship of the tcp phases.
