Crystal structure and magnetism of the Fe6Ga6−xSi1+x (where x = 0.05) compound

► The Fe46Ga46Si8 sample was synthesized by arc-melting. ► New Fe6Ga6−xSi1+x (x = 0.05(2)) phase (own structure type) was discovered. ► The Fe46Ga46Si8 sample annealed at 870 K for 30 days exhibits a ferromagnetic-like transition at 274 K.
