Luminescence and time-resolved spectroscopy properties of (Gd1−xEux)(BO2)3 multicrystals

► The PL properties of Gd(BO2)3 and Gd(BO2)3 activated with Eu3+ are investigated. ► The energy transfer phenomenon from Gd3+ to Eu3+ ions can be drawn from the spectra. ► Concentration quenching phenomenon does not happen. ► The decay curves of Eu3+ emission change from single exponential to non-exponential, and the lifetimes decrease. ► The decreasing lifetimes of Gd3+ emission dramatically confirms energy transfer from Gd3+ to Eu3+ efficiently.
