Electrochemical performance of Cu- and Ag-doped carbon aerogels

► The two metal-doped carbon aerogels showed different surface areas and porosities. ► Gravimetric capacitances were higher in Cu-doped than in Ag-doped carbon aerogels. ► Activation increased the capacitance and decreased the equivalent series resistance. ► The activated Cu-doped carbon aerogel showed the highest capacitance, 98 F cm−3.
