The effects of surface treatments on rapid chloride permeability tests

► Diffusion of chlorides into reinforced concrete is the leading cause of corrosion. ► Accelerated tests ions for surface-treated concrete specimens have strong limitations. ► Ions are cumulated at the interfacial region and distort the electric fields. ► Our numerical Nernst-Plank-Poisson formulation solves these limitations. ► Predictions compare well with experimental data.
