Preparation and characterization of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-poly(styrene sulfonate) composite thin films highly loaded with platinum nanoparticles

► Nano-sized and mono-dispersed Pt nanoparticles were synthesized by a polyol method. ► A thin film of PEDOT:PSS loaded with high concentration of Pt nanoparticles has been prepared. ► The PEDOT:PSS-Pt modified electrode has good potential to serve as a counter electrode in DSSC.
