• We have reported a novel random laser device in a PM597-DCM solution whose mixture is filled with Pt NPs.
• Although the NPs of the solution is disordered, the observed lasing action does not only stem from the simple amplification of scattering light, but also may be ascribed to the enhancement of the plasmonic scatterers.
• Our results may mean that the population inversion in the subwavelength vicinity of the nanoparticles can effectively participate in the lasing action and will be clamped at the lasing threshold.
• This behavior offers a tool to switch the resonant properties of random lasing in a single system by simply changing the plasmonic scatterers.
• We envision that random lasers demonstrated in this paper may open a path to future nano-lasers application aiming at plasmonic random lasers and wavelength tunability.

We, for the first time, report on a new easily fabricated type of PM 597-DCM composites demonstrating random lasing, which can be used as a simple mirror-less laser source. The composites are based on Pt nanoparticles dispersing in PM597-DCM solution. Excitation with green nanosecond laser (532 nm) induces random lasing with peaks in the visible spectral range (640 nm) and noticeable width of spontaneous emission. The possibility to tune the lasing wavelength of output light with PM597-DCM through photon scattering of Pt nanoparticles is demonstrated.
