On the compensation of chirp induced from semiconductor optical amplifier on RZ data using optical delay interferometer

► ODI is cascaded after SOA to compensate for chirp imposed on amplified RZ data. ► Very good agreement between model's and experimental results for SOA response. ► Pattern effect suppressed for chirp and amplified pulses despite tight parameters. ► Inserted time delay must be close but not exceed 10% of the bit period. ► Promising option for exploiting SOA chirp and using together SOA as gain block.
