Toward passive mode locking by nonlinear polarization evolution in a cascaded Raman fiber ring laser

We demonstrate a cascaded Raman fiber ring laser delivering a pulsed fourth-order Stokes component. Periodic emission of subnanosecond pulses is achieved from the interplay between nonlinear polarization evolution and Raman cascade process.
