چکیده انگلیسی

The long fluorescence lifetime of the upper laser level of Yb:YAG seems to make it an attractive material for the realization of Q-switched pulses with large pulse energy. The consequences of the spectroscopic parameter set of Yb:YAG for the feasibility of a large pulse energy laser, which emits pulses with nanosecond duration, are addressed on the basis of a rate equation model. The rate equations are analytically solved and applied to the optical side pumping of Yb:YAG rods. The thermal population of the lower laser level and the saturation of the laser material are discussed in specific.
