Tensile mechanical behaviors of cubic silicon carbide thin films

► Size effect and fracture mechanism of 3C-SiC thin films during tension are studied. ► With increasing thickness of SiC thin films, potential energy per atom decreased. ► With increasing thickness, Young's modulus, strength and elongation increased. ► With increasing temperature, Young's modulus, strength and elongation decreased.
