FEM modeling of the flow curves and failure modes of dual phase steels with different martensite volume fractions using actual microstructure as the representative volume

► The flow curves of two different dual phase steels were simulated by FEM. ► The microstructures of the studied steels were used as the representative elements. ► Failure engineering strains can be estimated well by the utilized numerical method. ► The shear dominant failure mode can be proposed for the studied dual phase steels.
