A numerical study of the dynamic response of sandwich plates initially damaged by low-velocity impact

Dynamics of sandwich plates with impact-induced damage is studied. A finite element analysis of impact-damaged plates is fulfilled with the ABAQUS code. Both the modal and general dynamic analyses are carried out. The intermittent contact in fragments detached at the damaged interface is examined. The influence of impact-induced damage on dynamics of the sandwich plates is discussed.
