The sensitivity of the β-material parameter and its determination based on optimization of error in the mechanical properties

► We examine the sensitivity of the β-material parameter. ► Its approximation results into inaccurate value of mechanical properties. ► Existing curve fitting method for its determination is cumbersome. ► Error optimization technique is found to be useful in the determination of β. ► β determined this way satisfies loop conditions and ensures goodness in the fit.
