Electron microscopy studies of lutetium doped erbium silicide (Er0.9Lu0.1)5Si4

► The linear features observed in the (Er0.9Lu0.1)5Si4 sample are hexagonal 5:3 plates. ► Thickness of 5:3 plates in 5:4 alloys made by tri-arc pulling is greater than made by arc-melting. ► The orientation relationship between 5:3 plates and the matrix is [010]m ≈ ∥[-1010]p.
