چکیده انگلیسی
Hot-isostatic pressing (HIP) allows near net shape components to be produced from vacuum-sealed powder in a defined capsule. HIP schemes specifically for β Ti-5553 powder have been designed and experimentally interrogated in this work. The effect of HIP temperature and time on the integrity of the bonds between Ti-5553 powder particles has been examined and the consequential tensile and high cycle fatigue response (HCF) characterized. The influence of heat treatment following HIP is also examined. The results indicate that HCF properties of HIPped Ti-5553 depend primarily on the quality of the bond formed between powder particles and microstructural characteristics. The temperature and time of HIP can be manipulated to improve particle bonding and fatigue performance.
