Effects of calcium on texture and mechanical properties of hot-extruded Mg-Zn-Ca alloys

► Calcium elements can weaken the basal textures of extruded Mg-Zn-Ca alloys and refine grain size. ► The mechanism to explain the texture modification in Ca containing alloys was the PSN mechanism. ► The Ca-contained magnesium alloys have much high ductility than no Ca-containing alloy.
