Influence of the pre-homogenization treatment on the microstructure evolution and the mechanical properties of Al-Cu alloys processed by ECAP

► The effect of pre-homogenization of Al-Cu alloys before the ECAP was investigated. ► More homogenous UFG microstructure was obtained in the case of homogenized alloys. ► Homogenous distribution of θ phase was noted in the case of the homogenized alloys. ► The mechanical properties were increased with the increase in the number of passes. ► Higher deformation homogeneity was observed in the case of homogenized alloys.
