Fluorescein-dextran sequestration in the reproductive tract of the migratory grasshopper Melanoplus sanguinipes (Orthoptera, Acridiidae)

► Fluid dynamics in reproductive system was examined by fluorescein-dextran in hemocoel. ► Male grasshoppers sequester fluorescein-dextran first in apical end of each sperm tube. ► Female grasshoppers sequester fluorescein-dextran into vitellogenic oocytes. ► Observed transfer of hemolymph fluorescein-dextran from males to mated females. ► First report of the potential for inter-ovariole transfer in a panoistic ovary.
