Quality evaluation of microscopy and scanned histological images for diagnostic purposes

► Quantitative evaluation of WSI quality in terms of contrast, colour and stain. ► Use of objective metric with perceptual features and subjective psychophysical test. ► The results show slight preference for the scanner over the microscope. ► The main problem for image quality is defocus followed by colour distortions. ► The image quality of both devices is suitable for clinical, educational and research.
