Lattice vibrational properties of Al2X Â (XÂ Â = Â Â Sc, Y) from density functional theory calculations

► We have studied the lattice dynamical and thermodynamical properties of the Al2Sc and Al2Y. ► The present results show that both compounds are dynamically stable. ► The acoustic and optical modes of dispersion spectrum are not separated by a gap.
