Effect of CrSi2 and HfB2 addition on densification and properties of ZrB2

► Effect of CrSi2 and HfB2 addition on densification and properties of ZrB2 have been investigated. ► Chromium disilicide lowered the hot pressing temperature to 1650 °C and imparted excellent oxidation resistance to ZrB2. ► Addition of HfB2 increased the hardness, fracture toughness and enhanced the oxidation resistance.
