Mechanochemical and volume combustion synthesis of ZrB2

► Zirconium diboride was produced by both volume combustion and mechanochemical synthesis processes. ► Products obtained by these two processes were compared in terms of presence of side products and ease of obtaining ZrB2. ► Mechanochemical synthesis has advantages, such as absence of side products and easier purification of products.
