In the present work zinc oxide nano particles (ZnO) were successfully synthesized by a sol gel method and zinc acetate dihydrate and triethanolamine (TAE) were used as the precursor materials. Ethanol and ammonium hydroxide takes care for the homogeneity and PH value of the solution and helps to make a stoichiometric solution to get Zinc oxide nano particles. Zinc oxide nano particles were reinforced at 0.001 wt.% in epoxy composites to determine the hardness and density. It was found that the density was increased with decrease in the size of the nano particle. Similarly, the hardness also increased with decrease in the size of the nano particles.
