Here in, we have synthesized ZnO nanostructures using solvothermal reaction method at 200 °C for 48 h. The synthesized product was systematically characterized with various spectroscopic techniques. XRD analysis revealed the formation of crystalline hexagonal ZnO structure. ZnO indicate the UV-Visible absorbance peak at 379 nm and photoluminescence spectra exhibited two peaks one at 391 nm attributed to band edge emission and second at 500 nm corresponds to certain defects. FE-SEM analysis showed formation of hexagonal shaped rod like morphology. Photocatalytic activity of the prepared ZnO nanostructures was evaluated using methylene blue degradation. The observed rate constant for photocatalytic MB degradation was (Kaap) 6.93 x 10-2 min-1.
