The preparation of FeVO4 as a new sort of anode material for lithium ion batteries

• FeVO4 is fabricated via a facile method.
• The electrochemical performance of the FeVO4 is studied.
• The FeVO4 shows higher specific capacity and lower cost than Li3VO4.
• FeVO4 is demonstrated to be an ideal anode for lithium ion batteries.

Ion vanadium oxide, FeVO4 is fabricated by a facile hydrothermal pretreatment and subsequent annealing treatment. The morphology and microstructure of the as-prepared FeVO4 were characterized by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) equipped with selected area electron diffraction (SAED). The electrochemical performance of the FeVO4 as anode material for lithium ion battery is studied via conventional charge and discharge test. At a specific current of 75 mA g−1, it delivers discharge and charge capacities of 870 and 527 mAh g−1 in the initial cycle, which maintain of 432 and 430 mAh g−1 after 100 cycles.

FeVO4 shows lower cost and higher specific capacity than Li3VO4, which has been demonstrated to be an ideal anode material for lithium ion batteries.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
